Who Needs Mistletoe?

1 Who Needs Mistletoe

I have never been a person who puts up their Christmas tree in RL before the beginning of December. In fact, I won’t be putting one up at all this year. It’s too much of a temptation for my cat and since it’s just the two of us, why test fate? Besides, even after 14 Christmases in Australia, I can’t get my head around Christmas in the summer. It would be my luck to trim my tree and get hit by a bushfire alert and have to take it down.

Instead, I can have a cozy little place in Second Life with a roaring fire, a big, brightly lit tree and even snow falling softly outside. I can even change it on a whim, depending on who is stopping by to visit. Today I brought along Chance to show off this very romantic pose by !bang for this month’s round…

Colour My World

Brighten up your world with the Colorful round of The Challenge! More details in the full post.

Pics by Peep

1 Colourful

As time goes on,
I realize
Just what you mean
To me
And now,
Now that you’re near,
Promise your love
That I’ve waited to share
And dreams
Of our moments together
Color my world with hope of loving you

~ Lyrics from “Colour My World” by Chicago

It’s a kind of sad and haunting love song, but how many tunes do you know that have an epic flute solo?

If you need a little colour to brighten your life, make sure you visit the stores participating in this month’s round of The Challenge. The post isn’t up quite yet with all of the lovely, colourful creations, but keep checking – the event has just opened so you can just store-hop to see all of the goodies.

[Black Tulip] brings you this colourful cat-themed set, and 22769 ~ [bauwerk] offers the boudoir chair in several eye-popping colours. Kuro gives…

Uneventful: A Blogger Challenge

I’ve got a challenge for bloggers! Check out my post for details and I look forward to seeing your posts 🙂

1 Uneventful

Let me start by saying that the reason I haven’t blogged all week is because it has been anything but uneventful. My week started with driving to work in torrential rain and howling wind, nearly being hit by a tree falling across the street, a flat tire, a sinus infection, more than one spreadsheet from hell and simply being exhausted. I was just too tired to do a blog post justice.

I last blogged about Event Overload. Don’t get me wrong; I love sales events in Second Life and do most of my shopping during events. They give shoppers the opportunity to be ensured of new releases and exposure to multiple creators in one handy location and they are often discounted. Even if an event is hosted in the actual stores, it is easy to find what is going on through various groups, Flickr, Plurk and blogs. I do…

1 Wet

Apologies for my absence. I’ve been a bit under the weather the last few days, but I’m perking up and nothing made me feel better than the new release from *ARGRACE* called HIKARI. It’s wet. Yep, it really does look like wet hair! I paired it with one of my very few must-haves from Summerfest ’14, this bathing suit from Valentina E. All I needed to do was dive into the ocean and start snapping!

Well, not exactly. While the hair does look wet, the suit and my skin didn’t. Fortunately, I recently watched a video tutorial on using the Plastic Wrap filter in the Photoshop Filter Gallery to mimic wet surfaces. Once I had done my basic edits, I applied the filter followed by a layer mask to remove and lighten parts of the effect, tossed in a few extra water droplets and came up with the…

The Girl In The Hat

A beautiful new release for JfL Hats. Click into my post for full details.

1 The Girl In The Hat

There is just something about a girl in a hat. She may be an ordinary girl with doubts about herself, but when she puts on a hat, she changes. Whether it is a beret, a wide-brimmed sun hat or a fedora, when she places it carefully atop her head something magical happens. It is as if a prince has crowned her with a tiara. She is more confident, whimsical and proud. She transforms from a wallflower to the belle of the ball. All eyes turn to her as she enters a room, a lovely centrepiece to be admired.

She is simply perfection, this girl in the hat.

Pretty stuff I’m showing off:

Top: *LACUNA* Satine Halterneck – Lemon by LacunaInc (available at My Attic May 2014)
Skirt: *LACUNA* Two Tone Wiggle Skirt – S – White by LacunaInc (available at My Attic May 2014)

Desert Retreat

The Moroccan round of The Challenge has some gorgeous home & garden items. Click into my post for details.

1 Moroccan Delights

I have been a bit remiss about blogging the gorgeous items for this month’s offerings from The Challenge. I love the items for this round, themed “Moroccan.” The rich textures and jewel tones give a punch to any setting. But I have had difficulty capturing their glorious beauty.

I think I finally hit on a setting that shows off the lovely furniture from Shabby Tabby within the confines of the [hate this] gazebo. This is no mirage; this little refuge from the desert heat can be yours.

Stop by the Shabby Tabby and [hate this] stores to create your own desert sanctuary, or just add a pop of colour to any home.

Pretty stuff I’m showing off:

*Build: [hate this] [ht:home] moroccan gazebo (no materials) by Corvus Szpiegel (for The Challenge May 2014)
*Sofa: Shabby Tabby – *Shabby* Marrakesh Sofa by Rosemaery Lorefield (for The Challenge May 2014)
*Table/accessories:
