Since my eldest son has been back home from Hawaii,
I’ve become more aware of the different ways people greet each other.
No matter how you wiggle your fingers, fold your hands and bump
your bodies, it all sums up to a “Hello. Good to see ya!”
How you are received plays a great part in how your interaction between you
and the Greeter will play out.
If they come at you foul, unless you are a saint or practice meditation,
chances are you won’t feel so peaceful.
It’s give and take….

My favorite element.
I’m a Geek and if there is a Spellcaster in the game I’m playing,
I will choose Fire as my element time and time again.
It’s powerful — leaving only traces of it’s target.
It’s final.
Permanent.
There is no going back.
An article written by the Smithsonian last year states that
84% of all Wildfires are started by us.
Humans.
Not machinery or something faulty.
Us.
My son can attest to this fact when he passed by a public
ashtray a few weeks ago and witnessed a fire starting
due to someone not putting out their cigarette.
Thank goodness he was there.
I would have been devastated to know my favorite Korean Market
had gone up in flames.
There are fires, however, that put the positive in motion.
Besides, being essential for cooking, heat and all it’s other obvious uses,
fire mesmerizes and magnetizes.
Stone’s Works‘ Wizard Flame Hat has the same affect.

Scared Silly

Diabetes.
I, like nearly 10% of the US population,
have it.
Although, I try to deny it and will occasionally
laugh about it, Diabetes is no joking matter.
It has left me vision impaired and more which
is why it was a no-brainer for me to join
Team Diabetes of Second Life in their
3rd Annual Scare Me Silly Event.

Team Diabetes of Second Life is an official and authorized team of The American Diabetes Association. The mission of Team Diabetes of Second Life is to raise awareness, tolerance, and funds for diabetes in the virtual world of Second Life. According to the World Health Organization (2016): 422 million adults in the world have diabetes and 1.5 million deaths are directly attributed to diabetes each year.

I don’t wanna die.
Not yet.
That is why I’m taking this event to heart.
As a message.
It’s time I stop my lax approach to this disease, pull up my big girl panties,
take the prescribed medications and better my health.
But, that will only be the beginning.

Scare Me Silly is an all inclusive event.
Running until October 27th, it features two Hunts, Live Performers,
DJ’s and an Art Show.
Designers have come out in hoards making shopping a treat.

Taste Like Chicken

Every time I hear anything about something tasting like chicken,
my mind immediately goes back to Mike Tyson and the meme created
after he bit Evander Holyfield’s ear back in 2012.
Memories.
They involve more than just the recollection of the mind.
You can smell Memories.
Hear them.
See them.
Feel them and yes
even taste them.

As we age, incidents from the past begin to resurface.
Sometimes for me, the negative ones try to take lead,
but I won’t allow it.
Why brood over something that happened 35 years ago?
Tis silly.
Instead, I have been focusing more on the simple.
For example, the hot summers I’d spent at a relative’s house
somewhere in the desert of California.
The name of the town escapes me, but it’s sizzling heat does not (Feel).
It’s a place that has the worst tasting water I have ever ingested in my life! (Taste)
And nothing visually captivating to look at, either.(See)
But, it was the nights…
Aaaah…the nights I remember the most.
When it was time for bed and I lay in front of their swamp cooler
all nice and comfy, the days discomfort passed away as I reach out
to their cold metal Goddess (Touch).

I have such memories in Second Life, too.
How someone wonderful took me under her wing.
Shaped me into the being that I am.
Encouraged me.
Stood by me.
Accepted my mistakes
and loved me for who I am.
That someone…
is Wicca Merlin.

I would do anything for Wicca.
Bend over backwards, forwards and beg on my knees.
That’s saying a lot from a woman
as strong-willed as I.
She is my Second Life and if anything were
to happen to her, I’m not sure I could carry on.
This is why when negative memories of SL resurface,
I squash them by creating new ones with Wicca in mind and
her Bloodshed Gloves give me plenty opportunities to do so.

spitting their knowledge on life, I’d have to say that
Kathleen Kelly’s Personal quote has been the most memorable for me.
Meg nailed it. I haven’t watched You’ve Got Mail in years,
yet what she says in this scene has stuck with me.
I can hear her voice now…”But, it was personal to me.”
What are we?
A bunch of machines?
Is The Tinman a distant relative, thus we have no heart?
Do we really interact with others on a daily basis using
“It’s not personal” as a license to do to them as we please?

So, what brought all of this on?
Xfinity — the Home of Comcast.
Lord, these folks!
I wish unto the Heavens my former ISP had not done an Elvis (left the building).
I had no other choice but Comcast.
Over the years, I’d heard horror stories about their lousy service
figuring it couldn’t be that bad.
It can.
It IS!
The past few days have been a nightmare with their iffy service —
not knowing when it will go down and for how long.
Thursday topped the outage list with 17 hours without internet.
Perhaps today will be a new record as I’m literally creating this post via WordPad.
Contacting them brings on a whole new set of frustrations, too.
First, you have to get through their phony female machine
with it’s fake typing sound effect as it looks up your information.
That process takes even longer if you owe them money.
How dare they speak to you about owing anything when they can’t
provide what you signed up for.
The ingrates!
When I finally reach a “real person”, she began with
the standard, “I’m so sorry for the inconvenience.”
No you’re not!
That’s something you spit out in hopes that it will calm the complaintive.
It fuels my fire.
She was reading.
Everything she spoke to me was prompted.
How do I know?
No matter what I said to her, she kept repeating the same thing and would at times respond with something unrelated to my question.
“We will be refunding everyone for the time outage.”
I didn’t ask that. Nowhere did you hear me mention money.
She wasn’t personal.
Her superiors do not see us as individuals and find it easier to deal via note cards.
I’m so sick of that.
I’m flesh and blood here.
Approach me as the person that I am.

Mourn

It’s fascinating.
At least for me.
The “it” being how occasionally the images I create reflect
my state of being unintentionally.
It started several years back when I dreamt I was being
coddled by thorny vines.
The dream was so strong that I tried to recreate it in a Second Life image.
I did well.
Perhaps, I’ll show it to you one day.

But, again, it wasn’t intentional.
I had resigned myself to the possibility of having to end
a very important SL relationship.
So, here I am…

I don’t know what came over me.
