1 Who Needs Mistletoe

I have never been a person who puts up their Christmas tree in RL before the beginning of December. In fact, I won’t be putting one up at all this year. It’s too much of a temptation for my cat and since it’s just the two of us, why test fate? Besides, even after 14 Christmases in Australia, I can’t get my head around Christmas in the summer. It would be my luck to trim my tree and get hit by a bushfire alert and have to take it down.

Instead, I can have a cozy little place in Second Life with a roaring fire, a big, brightly lit tree and even snow falling softly outside. I can even change it on a whim, depending on who is stopping by to visit. Today I brought along Chance to show off this very romantic pose by !bang for this month’s round…

Wet

This new hair from *ARGRACE* is a must have! It really looks wet!

1 Wet

Apologies for my absence. I’ve been a bit under the weather the last few days, but I’m perking up and nothing made me feel better than the new release from *ARGRACE* called HIKARI. It’s wet. Yep, it really does look like wet hair! I paired it with one of my very few must-haves from Summerfest ’14, this bathing suit from Valentina E. All I needed to do was dive into the ocean and start snapping!

Well, not exactly. While the hair does look wet, the suit and my skin didn’t. Fortunately, I recently watched a video tutorial on using the Plastic Wrap filter in the Photoshop Filter Gallery to mimic wet surfaces. Once I had done my basic edits, I applied the filter followed by a layer mask to remove and lighten parts of the effect, tossed in a few extra water droplets and came up with the…

Desert Retreat

The Moroccan round of The Challenge has some gorgeous home & garden items. Click into my post for details.

1 Moroccan Delights

I have been a bit remiss about blogging the gorgeous items for this month’s offerings from The Challenge. I love the items for this round, themed “Moroccan.” The rich textures and jewel tones give a punch to any setting. But I have had difficulty capturing their glorious beauty.

I think I finally hit on a setting that shows off the lovely furniture from Shabby Tabby within the confines of the [hate this] gazebo. This is no mirage; this little refuge from the desert heat can be yours.

Stop by the Shabby Tabby and [hate this] stores to create your own desert sanctuary, or just add a pop of colour to any home.

Pretty stuff I’m showing off:

*Build: [hate this] [ht:home] moroccan gazebo (no materials) by Corvus Szpiegel (for The Challenge May 2014)
*Sofa: Shabby Tabby – *Shabby* Marrakesh Sofa by Rosemaery Lorefield (for The Challenge May 2014)

S Is For She Of The Mountains

Pose Fair is now open! Plus some lovely goddess-like goodies from The Theme Park!

1 She Of The Mountains 01

In Hindu culture, Parvati, “She of the mountains,” is the consort of Shiva, the Supreme God within Shaivism. But she is a goddess in her own right, the goddess of Power and the source of all power and weapons. She can be both wrathful and benevolent. In some legends, she is the woman behind the man but in others she is superior to Shiva. She is, in other words, the prototypical woman, showing her strength in various incarnations.

Also from Hindu culture comes Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, nature, arts and music. She represents enlightenment, creativity and eloquence. She is also multi-faceted and a role model for everyone.

From Greek mythology is Athena, the goddess of knowledge, strength, just warfare and the arts. She is one of the strongest goddesses in Greek culture. In fact, city of Athens was named for her.

Gods and goddesses is the motif at this…

Better Things To Do

Gorgeous gacha stuffs to be had at L’accessoires this month! I’m showing off just a few, but there are lots of goodies. Click into my post for a ride to this lovely event.

1 L'accessorie_013 N

Yesterday was the 8th of the month, and I’m sure for 49,127 of the 49,233 people that were online when I logged in, that meant trying to get into Collabor88. Yes, I was one of them, but I only tried once (and failed) and only after I had paid a visit to L’accessoires. My dear friend, Cao, has been teasing us with highlights of goodies from this event all week, so it was my first stop of the day.

This month, it is themed “Timeless Romance,” and it is a gacha event this time around. It is easy to navigate and the crowd was small, so I had no issues with rezzing or lag. What a breath of fresh air for a shopping experience!

And yes, I got the goods – lots of em! In addition to Cao’s blog, I had perused the offerings over on Seraphim, so…

Lesson Learned From Surrealism

There is a new shopping event, The Surreal Complex, going on and there are some cute, quirky and avant-garde items to be had. Click into my post for more details.

1 Uncommon Smile D

I consider myself to be a rather grounded, down-to-earth kind of person. So I almost didn’t click into the gallery for The Surreal Complex over on Seraphim to see what was on offer. Ah, in case you didn’t know about Seraphim, that is my shopping secret weapon. It is how I find out about the majority of sales events going on and gives me a sneak-preview so I can decide whether or not to fight the crowds.

But, being the dedicated shopper that I am, I took a peek. I was expecting something along the lines of nightmare-inspired items; instead, I found more quirky, clever and cute items mixed in with the more avant-garde. The event is divided into three categories: art, dreams and fairy tales. It is a fun shopping venue (although I did have trouble finding the teleporter back to the main level from the dreams gallery) and…

Shopping Nirvana

Sadly, the 21Shoe event has passed for this month, but there are still some fabulous deals to be had at My Attic @ The Deck. Dig in to find the details!

Pics by Peep

1 21Shoes & My Attic

Happiness may be a warm puppy, but it’s also a two-for-one shoe sale on the same day I visited My Attic @ The Deck! As you can see, I was positively giddy after my latest shopping excursion. And who can blame me? My boots, the Cream version of Eudora 3D’s Coffee & Cream Edition for the inaugural 21Shoe event are sparkly-new and oh-so-cute. And don’t forget about my new hairstyle by MINA, cashmere top and comfy yoga pants (each one of a pair in the sets) by *Fishy Strawberry* and my pose set by {NanTra}, all nabbed at My Attic. Two stops, all this goodness (plus more I haven’t shown…yet 😉 )

Now I can just lie back and fall asleep, dreaming happily of shopping nirvana.

Unfortunately, 21Shoe is a one-day only sales event, so if you missed it this month be sure follow the 21Shoe blog or join…
