My favorite element.
I’m a Geek and if there is a Spellcaster in the game I’m playing,
I will choose Fire as my element time and time again.
It’s powerful — leaving only traces of it’s target.
It’s final.
Permanent.
There is no going back.
An article written by the Smithsonian last year states that
84% of all Wildfires are started by us.
Humans.
Not machinery or something faulty.
Us.
My son can attest to this fact when he passed by a public
ashtray a few weeks ago and witnessed a fire starting
due to someone not putting out their cigarette.
Thank goodness he was there.
I would have been devastated to know my favorite Korean Market
had gone up in flames.
There are fires, however, that put the positive in motion.
Besides, being essential for cooking, heat and all it’s other obvious uses,
fire mesmerizes and magnetizes.
Stone’s Works‘ Wizard Flame Hat has the same affect.

We Spellcasters never want our opponent to see us coming.

Of all the movies I’ve watched in my lifetime with characters
spitting their knowledge on life, I’d have to say that
Kathleen Kelly’s Personal quote has been the most memorable for me.
Meg nailed it. I haven’t watched You’ve Got Mail in years,
yet what she says in this scene has stuck with me.
I can hear her voice now…”But, it was personal to me.”
What are we?
A bunch of machines?
Is The Tinman a distant relative, thus we have no heart?
Do we really interact with others on a daily basis using

So, what brought all of this on?
Xfinity — the Home of Comcast.
Lord, these folks!
I wish unto the Heavens my former ISP had not done an Elvis (left the building).
I had no other choice but Comcast.
Over the years, I’d heard horror stories about their lousy service
figuring it couldn’t be that bad.
It can.
It IS!
The past few days have been a nightmare with their iffy service —
not knowing when it will go down and for how long.
Thursday topped the outage list with 17 hours without internet.
Perhaps today will be a new record as I’m literally creating this post via WordPad.
Contacting them brings on a whole new set of frustrations, too.
First, you have to get through their phony female machine
with it’s fake typing sound effect as it looks up your information.
That process takes even longer if you owe them money.
How dare they speak to you about owing anything when they can’t
provide what you signed up for.
The ingrates!
When I finally reach a “real person”, she began with
the standard, “I’m so sorry for the inconvenience.”
No you’re not!
That’s something you spit out in hopes that it will calm the complaintive.
It fuels my fire.
She was reading.
Everything she spoke to me was prompted.
How do I know?
No matter what I said to her, she kept repeating the same thing and would at times respond with something unrelated to my question.
“We will be refunding everyone for the time outage.”
I didn’t ask that. Nowhere did you hear me mention money.
She wasn’t personal.
Her superiors do not see us as individuals and find it easier to deal via note cards.
I’m so sick of that.
I’m flesh and blood here.
Approach me as the person that I am.

Mourn

It’s fascinating.
At least for me.
The “it” being how occasionally the images I create reflect
my state of being unintentionally.
It started several years back when I dreamt I was being
coddled by thorny vines.
The dream was so strong that I tried to recreate it in a Second Life image.
I did well.
Perhaps, I’ll show it to you one day.
With that said, what does the image above say to you?

But, again, it wasn’t intentional.
I had resigned myself to the possibility of having to end
a very important SL relationship.
So, here I am…

I’ve been rather melancholy as of late and If has cropped up
many times during my journeys down memory lane.
I dismiss the negative aspects of them immediately
since there is no use in regretting the past.
Saying that I have learned from them
is all well and good, but I sometimes feel we use that excuse
as an aid to dulling the pain.
The trick is finding your own way of reversing those Ifs, turning them
completely on their sides —
working them.
using them.
getting in touch with them.

I’ve discovered that one way for me to work my Ifs is
via Second Life Photography.
I’m not a great photographer, but when you are expressing
yourself, you really don’t have to be, do you?

I love texture which is why my images seem to have
more edge to them.
I also love color which I’ve said many times before.
Color & Texture.

Paper, ROCK, Scissors

Roshambo.
Another name for the decision making free hand game
mostly known as Paper, Rock, Scissors or some other
form of the three words.
You know the rules:
Paper covers Rock.
Rock blunts Scissors.
Scissors cut Paper.
Now, indulge me for a moment…

What if Paper represented Cancer and what if
Rock stood in the place of a cancer Patient?
Scissors can then be how the Rock views them —
Pharmaceutical companies, Chemo, Supportive family, etc.
Keep indulging me…

Paper (cancer) suddenly covers Rock (Patient).
Mind you, paper only covers.
It does not smother, contain or completely envelop it.
That means light can shine through giving the Rock
the ability to blunt the Scissors (Chemo, Fam, etc)
so they aren’t too difficult to handle; using them to be Paper-Free.
Indulging should continue, please…

Besides the Scissors, the Rock has a helper — a sidekick, if you will.
And it’s named after it’s Heroine/Hero….

If you haven’t heard, Models Giving Back will be presenting
Rock Your Rack, an annual charity event supporting
the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) this year.
NBCF provides help and inspire hope to those affected
by breast cancer through early detection, education
and supportive services.
And yes.  That includes men, as well.

In it’s 6th year, Rock Your Rack involves 72 Designers,
features 2D/3D Artists and 3 Tribute Concerts.
Is that all?

Rock is also rocking it with 23 DJ Dance Parties, 12 Live Music Artist Shows, 6 Fashion Shows, the 10L Hunt and Silent Auctions.

Rubik Rights

Defeated.
I guess that’s the only way to describe my position when it comes
to solving what won the 1980 German Game of the Year
for Best Puzzle….Rubik’s Cube.
I gave up years ago twisting and turning
each of those six faces covered by nine stickers
(current models have colored plastic panels for longevity).
However, the Cube lives on with it widely being considered
the world’s best-selling toy.

In the past, primary colored cubes brought back memories of
frustrating hours tearing out (my hair) and tearing in (my eyes).
That was until Cygnus Designs came along and gave me the
right to get my cube on.

I Want To Live!
A 1958 movie my Pops introduced me to as a girl.
It’s a true story based on Barbara Graham, a habitual criminal who
fights to survive after convicted of murder and sentenced to execution.
Me, being at an impressionable age,
I Want To Live had a profound effect on me.
I wanted to live!
I wanted to live for Ms. Graham and for all others out there who sought
to prove that what appears before you, isn’t necessarily what it seems.

Claws Before Paws

I love what I’ve become.
Every inch of me.
As of right now,
there isn’t a single thing I would change or
anyone I would allow to change me….
NOT!
Along comes Wicca’s Wardrobe who totally and I mean
totally blows my paws off.

Anthony Perkins said that in the 1975 movie Mahogany when
his film crew attempted to move the actual statue of the Roman Goddess.
Side note:
Mahogany is one of my favorite movies.
Although, Rotten Tomatoes gave it a mere 29%, it’s 100% fab to me.
It was my first movie about fashion and just like one’s first love,
I will always cherish it.
